About

A.C. Hessenauer

A.C. is a Michigan native, an educational audiologist by day, and a horror writer by night. She holds a clinical doctorate degree in Audiology.

A.C. grew up as the granddaughter of a librarian, and the daughter of a journalist. She always wanted to be a writer.  She loved watching horror movies with her father, and spent most of her childhood running around barefoot outside, reading, believing in magic, and living in imaginary worlds inside her head.

A.C. Hessenauer describes herself as an author of horror with gothic romance & weird girl lit vibes. A.C. is an active member of the Horror Writers Association.  She has self-published five novels and one novella. Her first traditionally published novel, Going to the Six, will be released by Cemetery Dance in 2026.

When she’s not participating in macabre ceremonies dedicated to the eldritch horrors out in the woods, A.C. enjoys spending time with her family: her husband, two sons, and border collie named Maximus. She loves a good horror movie, and of course, getting swallowed whole by a good book.
